Taxi Riders
I-CAB Transportation holds itself to a higher standard and, as such,instituted a program to insure that all taxi riders are provided with the highest quality service. Please read this document and understand your rights as a taxi rider. You will also be responsible to behave in a civil manner and to obey all laws and traffic regulations.
As a rider of I-CAB Transportation in Independence, KS, you are entitled to the following:
1. A taxi driver that speaks and understands English. We do havepeople availablewho speak Spanish.
2. A taxi driver that is knowledgeable of major destinations and is able, to the best of their abilities,to take you to your destination in the quickest time and by the shortest route. Latest in: Most of our drivers have Garmin or some other form of electronic road map. Hard to get lost for sure!
3. A ride in a taxicab that is in safe working order and with operating heating and air conditioning.
4. A taxi driver who practices good hygiene, does not smoke in his cab and is polite and respectful of his customers.
5. To be charged an accurate fare for the distance and time of your trip, including any approved surcharge based upon Independence/I-CAB Transportation taxi rates.
6. To offer complaints, recommendations or commendations, call I-CAB Transportation at 1-888-820-4222/620-331-6019.
7. To a taxi that arrives at the pickup point within a reasonable amount of time after an order has been placed.
8. To request a receipt.
9. For persons with disabilities: to ride in a wheelchair accessible taxi and/or be accompanied by a service animal, if requested. At this time, people must be able to transfer to one our cars with minimal / some assistance.
10. To pay for trip using cash, Senior Taxi Club Script + cash, or major credit card ($2.50 minimum).
11. To understand that if you have requested a taxi, that you are responsible to pay a minimum $ amount unless you cancel in advance of the taxi's arrival. If you are cancelling as the taxi pulls up out front, you are too late. The company and driver time is worth$25.00 per hour.
Your taxi driver also has rights that you should respect, including the following:
1. Behave in a civil manner.
2. Refrain from smoking, period! This is not a driver choice. If the driver lets you smoke, he/she may be fired, so don't ask! Drinking and eating are allowed as long as the drink has a lid and the food isn't dropped all over the taxicab.
3. Do not distract or otherwise prevent the taxi driver from focusing on driving the cab.
4. Board the cab only from the curb or right side of the cab, or the wheelchair accessible ramp.
5. Pay the fare as requested by the driver either when entering the taxi or when you have reached your destination. Should you dispute the fare, you should quietly talk to the taxi driver first and then, request to speak to the local dispatcher/manager.
6. Understand that if you trash or get sick in our cars, particularly from drinking alcohol, a fee of $50.00 - $150.00, depends on what the passenger leaves for us to clean up, is automatically added to the fare. Afterall, no one wants to smell that after someone does it.
